Responsible Play
Fantasy hockey should stay fun — here is how FredSave helps you keep it that way, eh.
Last updated: July 29, 2026
At FredSave, we believe fantasy hockey should be fun, social, and sustainable — the kind of competition you look forward to after a long shift, not something that keeps you up until 2 a.m. refreshing injury reports because your week got away from you. This Responsible Play page describes our commitment to promoting healthy engagement with fantasy sports, the tools we provide to help you stay in control, and resources available to Canadians who may need support related to gaming or gambling behaviour.
FredSave is a fantasy hockey entertainment platform. Our core Services — roster building, league play, news, team guides, and game simulation — do not involve real-money wagering on NHL games through FredSave itself. However, we recognize that some users may also participate in sports betting or daily fantasy contests offered by third parties, and that fantasy sports engagement can become excessive for a minority of users. We take that seriously.
Our Philosophy
Fantasy hockey is a game of skill that rewards research, schedule awareness, and roster management — the same instincts you brag about at the office water cooler. It should enhance your enjoyment of the NHL, especially Canadian teams and players you already follow. When engagement stops being enjoyable and starts feeling compulsive, stressful, or financially harmful, it is time to step back. FredSave encourages all users to set personal boundaries, take breaks, and prioritize real-life relationships, work, school, and health over league standings.
Age Requirements
You must be eighteen years of age or older to create a FredSave account and use our Services. We do not knowingly permit minors to register. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has created an account, contact us at [email protected] and we will investigate and delete the account promptly. Parents should monitor children's online activity and use device-level parental controls where appropriate.
Healthy Play Guidelines
We recommend the following practices for a balanced fantasy hockey experience:
- Set time limits. Decide in advance how much time per day or week you will spend on lineups, waivers, and research. FredSave is designed for quick checks — not endless scrolling.
- Separate fantasy from finances. FredSave premium subscriptions are optional entertainment expenses. Do not treat fantasy performance as income or chase losses on third-party betting sites because your pool leader pulled ahead.
- Play with friends. Office pools and buddy leagues keep the stakes social and fun. Avoid high-pressure environments that shame you for missing a lineup set.
- Take breaks. The NHL schedule has natural pauses — all-star break, Olympic years, offseason. Use them to reset. You can disable non-essential notifications in account settings.
- Watch for warning signs. Neglecting responsibilities, lying about time or money spent, mood swings tied to fantasy results, or inability to stop despite wanting to may indicate a problem worth addressing.
FredSave Platform Tools
We build features to support responsible engagement: optional email notification controls so you are not bombarded with waiver alerts; clear distinction between free and premium features without dark patterns; cookie and marketing consent controls described in our Cookie Policy; account deletion on request; and community guidelines prohibiting harassment and predatory behaviour in league chat. We do not use loot-box mechanics, variable-ratio reward schedules designed to mimic gambling, or real-money entry contests on FredSave itself.
Third-Party Betting and Daily Fantasy
Links from FredSave news or partner content may reference sportsbooks or daily fantasy operators regulated in Canadian provinces. FredSave is not responsible for third-party terms, age verification, or responsible gambling tools on external sites. If you choose to use such services, use only operators licensed in your province (for example, iGaming Ontario registrants where applicable), set deposit and loss limits offered by those operators, and never bet more than you can afford to lose. Sports betting and DFS are not suitable for everyone.

Self-Exclusion and Account Controls
You may request temporary suspension or permanent deletion of your FredSave account by emailing [email protected] with the subject line "Account suspension" or "Account deletion." We will process verified requests within a reasonable timeframe and confirm when your data has been handled according to our Privacy Policy. During suspension, you will not receive marketing emails or league notifications.
Our Ongoing Commitment
FredSave reviews this Responsible Play page and related policies regularly. We train support staff to recognize signs of user distress and to respond with empathy and referrals rather than engagement tactics. We welcome feedback from users, leagues, and responsible gaming organizations on how we can improve. Fantasy hockey should feel like cheering from the stands with your crew — not skating into the boards headfirst. Play smart, enjoy the game, and know when to hit the bench.
